01 Your draft

02 Your time & pace
Planning range
Add your draft
The estimate will appear here.
The range compares a pace 15% slower and faster than your chosen pace, within 40 to 300 words per minute. It uses the same pause allowance. It is a planning scenario, not a measured confidence interval.
Find your pace
A short reading. Your own clock.
Press Start, then read the whole passage aloud at a comfortable pace. Pause naturally. Press Stop after the last word.
No microphone or recording. The clock measures elapsed time; it cannot tell whether you read the passage. This is a starting point for rehearsal, not a prediction of your pace on stage.

Ready when you are. Stay on this page while reading.
A timed reading already includes your pauses. Using it sets the extra pause allowance to 0%.
From draft to delivery
Bring it into PalmCards.
Copy your draft, turn it into cards, then rehearse aloud against the clock.
- Copy the draft with the button below.
- In PalmCards, choose New deck, then From your notes and Paste from clipboard.
- Set Talk length in the app. For an offline split, turn Smart split with AI off. Tap Make cards, edit your cues and rehearse.
The app’s new-deck time picker uses whole minutes from 1 to 15. Your draft and calculator settings do not transfer automatically.
Keep an original copy and check every card. The offline split makes up to 40 cards with six cue lines per card; split long talks into shorter sections.
The AI switch is on by default in the app. Leaving it on sends the pasted text to the app’s AI service.
A downloaded draft contains your words. The app’s file import reads up to 20,000 characters; copy and paste longer drafts, or split them first.
How the estimate works
Speaking time is word count ÷ words per minute. Extra pause time is added as a percentage of that speaking time. The word budget uses your target time, chosen pace and pause allowance.
The word count uses word-like segments. Punctuation and emoji do not count as words. Read your actual speech aloud to check the fit; a calculator cannot account for every delivery choice.
